Shilajit
In Sanskrit, shilajit means “conqueror of mountains and destroyer of weakness”. It is a substance indigenous to the Himalayas that has since been found in the Andes as well, and it has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years!
Shilajit is a brown to black, sticky, resinous substance that's left over when plants die and decompose, developed over centuries in mountainous terrains of boulders and crevices. Our powder is a purified, concentrated extract from this resin material, and it is on the lighter brown end of the Shilajit color spectrum.
Fulvic Acid
Ayurveda considers it a substance that improves the health of the body's plasma and prolongs life by reversing and preventing numerous conditions. Modern science attributes some of these characteristics to shilajit's high concentration of fulvic acid.
Fulvic acid is respected as a powerful antioxidant.
Natural Multivitamin
In addition to fulvic acid, shilajit is rich in selenium, iron, magnesium, silica, calcium, zinc, and many more minerals, which is why many people call it a natural multivitamin.
These add to the healing powers of shilajit! Amongst other things, selenium is key for healthy thyroid function; magnesium is known to reduce stress and anxiety, iron bonds oxygen to red blood cells and prevents anemia; silica is necessary for bones, teeth, nails, hair, and connective tissue; calcium is vital for bone health; and zinc is a key for a healthy immune system.
Pro-cognitive Benefits
Research shows shilajit may stop the progression of or even prevent Altzheimer's disease! This is in part credited to its high concentration of fulvic acid, which has been shown to prevent the "tangling" of tau proteins. This amalgamation of tau proteins "has been identified as a major event involved in the neurodegenerative process".
Shilajit is shown to improve focus, concentration, mental clarity, recall, and memory functions.
