Food preservation is a key aspect of sustainable living! We are glad to share our bountiful abundance with you through our new line of freeze dried foods.
Just as the name suggests, freeze drying is a food preservation method that first freezes, then dries food to remove all moisture from the product.
Unlike dehydration, freeze drying maintains the color and shape of all types of food. Properly stored freeze dried foods can last up to 30 years!
This is an ideal method for building your own food storage. It is also great for hiking or camping, as all moisture weight is removed from food!
Most of our fruits and veggies go from field to freeze dryer to lock in the sun-kissed freshness, potentially for years to come! With meats, pastas, and dishes like potato salad or quinoa, the food are already cooked before we freeze dry them. So any of our foods are ready for rehydration and immediate consumption.
If you want to reconstitute your freeze dried foods, simply add warm water, allow to absorb for 10-30 minutes, and it will return to it's nice fresh form!
However, delightfully almost everything we have tried makes a wonderful, nutritious snack right out of the package! Fruits like strawberries and bananas become extra sweet (with no added sugar!) as their natural sugars concentrate, and the texture becomes crunchy and satisfying! These make great treats for kids and adults alike.
Surprisingly, some of our favorite freeze dried savory snacks are actually various types of dried lunch meats, which become crispy high protein "chips"! Or pasta salad, which is flavorful with a wonderful crunch, sort of like a very unique crouton! The options are really endless for how you can enjoy our one-of-a-kind freeze dried foods.
