Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is a natural and sustainable solution for improved health and wellbeing that also has a number of uses around the home and garden!
Diatomaceous means "filled with diatoms".
Diatoms are prehistoric phytoplankton, and they have intricate, porous, hard shells made primarily of silica (silicon dioxide), creating a honeycomb-like structure with numerous tiny holes.
Diatomaceous earth is filled with diatoms because it is sustainably mined and ground from sedimentary rock sourced from ancient marine, lake, and river beds where these organisms once thrived.
Because of the shape, sharp edges, and structure of diatoms, DE has the ability to essentially "shred up" and dehydrate microbes, parasites, and even insects that it comes in contact with! However, it is so fine and the particles are so small that Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth does not have the same effect on mammals.
Silica is a mineral that forms collagen and helps the body absorb calcium, and DE is a rich source of it. This mineral is a key component in the health of skin, nails, hair, and joints.
Why is FOOD GRADE important?
Loose, lightweight, powdery, off-white diatomaceous earth can usually be found in 3 classifications: food grade, pest grade, or pool grade.
Only FOOD GRADE is the variety that is safe for ingestion! Pest and pool grades may have higher concentrations of impurities like iron oxide or alumina. Pest and pool grades are also fine for certain external uses, but please be aware that these grades can be harmful to the respiratory system! It is not recommended to work with pest or pool grades in poorly ventilated areas. Food grade DE does not bear the same dangers.
Food grade is safe for internal use, but it can also be used for numerous topical applications as well around the home and garden. It is so beneficial, economical, versatile, and has so many uses that we believe every household should keep a bag on hand.

Dosage & Usage Info
For internal use, take 1 heaping tablespoon of Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth in a cup of water first thing in the morning every day, whether you are sick or well, as it helps restore and protect health!
It is a great product to use regularly to eliminate parasites and keep them at bay. It is especially valuable and important to add to any detox you may choose to pursue (whether that be a Candida Cleanse, mercury detox, or supplement you choose to take on your Super Detox Bath days), because it acts as a strong and safe binder for the toxins from your tissues to be flushed from your system.
We recommend adding your DE to the same cup in which you take your 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate each morning. Both are very inexpensive supplements with immense benefits.
