HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Pure hydrogen peroxide is a volatile substance that is constantly breaking down to oxygen and water. It never goes "bad", but due to this natural decomposition it will lose concentration over time.

You can minimize this rate of breakdown to a mere 1-2% PER YEAR by storing it in a cool, dark place. It will decompose faster when exposed to light, air, and temperatures over roughly 70 degrees F. The fridge or freezer are acceptable storage options, although a cabinet that stays cool is also fine.

The volume that is best for you to keep on hand depends greatly on your intended use, as hydrogen peroxide can be used for dozens of purposes for health and around the home! Read through this page thoroughly for dilution ratios and suggested uses.

​As rainwater (H2O) falls to the earth, the ozone (O3) layer contributes one oxygen atom to water molecules, naturally forming hydrogen peroxide.
According to Dr. David G. Williams, "It is this hydrogen peroxide in rainwater that makes it so much more effective than tap water when given to plants."
Today, the air is so polluted that most of the hydrogen peroxide reacts with air-borne toxins and never reaches the ground. To give your plants the boost they are missing from tap water, use 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in the water you give them!
A Brief History
In 1818, French scientist Louis Jacques Thernardaccidentally discovered hydrogen peroxide while adding barium peroxide to water. It was thought to be an unstable molecule until 1894, when Richard Wolffenstein isolated pure hydrogen peroxide water using vacuum distillation. Petre Melikishvili identified its molecular structure--H2O2--in the early 20th century.
Hydrogen peroxide is utilized in the restoration of old paintings by converting white lead in the paint to lead sulfide.
Hydrogen peroxide is used as a bleaching agent, especially for delicate fabrics and items like feathers. It can bleach hair, and is used to whiten wood pulp in paper making.

Hydrogen peroxide was widely used as medicine in the early 1900s, but it was neglected and discarded as the pharmaceutical industry developed fancy schmancy, expensive new treatments.

Pure hydrogen peroxide is a volatile substance used in rocket propellant and torpedo fuel. It has been involved in deadly accidents and explosions, but because it is easily diluted with water, the safety of hydrogen peroxide is merely one of concentration.

CAUTION
35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide must be handled carefully!
It is a weak acid that can burn the skin and MUST be diluted with clean distilled water before internal, topical, or environmental use.
35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down organic matter. It is quite reactive and must be handled and used with care! Please see this post for more info on safe handling techniques. Store in a cool, dry, dark place, away from contact with organic materials like wood. Use with appropriate consideration and caution - for most purposes you must dilute pretty strongly with distilled water.

If contact with skin occurs, you may experience temporary discomfort, itching, stinging, and/or white discoloration of the skin. Flush thoroughly with water if contact occurs. Keep away from eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

Be aware that if you choose to use for self-medication, ONLY FOOD GRADE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE is recommended for internal use and it MUST be heavily diluted first. The hydrogen peroxide from the brown bottle available at your local drug store is 3%, is NOT food grade, and is NOT safe for internal use as it contains many stabilizers and additives.

35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide is highly reactive! We recommend storing it in a cool, dark place in the original container or the small complimentary dropper bottle we gift you with each order. These materials will not react with hydrogen peroxide and cause it to break down.

35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide does not "go bad", but it does start to break down if it is not stored properly. Concentration of hydrogen peroxide will therefore decrease. Minimize this rate of decomposition to a mere 1-2% PER YEAR by storing in a cool, dark place like the fridge, freezer, or even a cabinet that stays cool.
