Mouthgasmic RECIPES from the Garden
Ingredients for Southern Fried Chicken:
1 whole chicken (3-4 pounds), cut into pieces
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups flour, or try day old cornbread crumbs!
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Roughly 1 quart of oil for frying
Soak chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes, up to overnight.
Add spices to flour or cornbread while chicken comes to room temperature.
Shake excess buttermilk off of chicken pieces, and dredge in seasoned flour.
Deep fry chicken in skillet with tall sides or dutch oven for approximately 25 minutes, turning once to make the crust nice and crispy.
Drain on cooling rack for a few minutes.
Serve dipped or doused in Wasabi Vinegar Hot Sauce.
Ingredients for Wasabi Vinegar Hot Sauce:
Mix all ingredients and allow to sit for at least 30 minutes to let flavors bloom.
